Job Eligibility
Age Limit: Candidates age must be between 18-30 years for the posts given at Sl. No. 1 & 5 and 18-27 years of age, for the posts given at Sl. No. 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 & 9 as on 31 March 2013. Age Relaxations will be extended as per the rules.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess Degree for Sr. No. 1 post, Master’s Degree in Hindi/English with English/Hindi as a subject at the degree level for Sr. No. 2 post, Graduate with One Year Diploma/Certificate Course in Computer, English typing speed of 30 wpm or Hindi typing speed of 25 wpm for Sr. No. 3 posts, Degree along with Shorthand test in English or Hindi comprising dictation test at 100 words per minute for seven minutes for Stenographer posts, Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with Chemistry as one of the main subject)/ Three years Diploma in Chemical/Mechanical/ Electrical/ Agricultural Engg for remaining posts.
Salary:PB-2/ Rs 9300 - 34800 4200
Application fee: Candidates have to pay Rs.500 + Rs. 35 for Sr. No. 1, 2, 5 to 9 posts and for remaining posts candidates have to pay Rs.350 + Rs. 35 as application fee  through System Generated Challan at any branch of State Bank of India only. No fee for SC/ST/PWD/Women Candidates and existing departmental candidates of BIS for all posts & Ex-servicemen only for the posts of Junior Stenographer and LDC.
Selection process:Selection will be based on the performance in skill test / interview.

i. Candidates are required to apply On-line through BIS website in English only. No other means/mode of submission of applications will be accepted under any circumstances. The on-line registration process involves two steps for successful registration of the application.
ii. Candidates should have a valid personal e-mail ID. It should be kept active during the currency of this recruitment process. Registration number, password, admit card for written test / skill test call letter and Interview call letter or any other important communication will be sent on the same registered e-mail ID of candidate. About The Organization
With effect from such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint in this behalf, there shall be established for the purposes of this Act, a Bureau, to be called the Bureau of Indian Standards. The Bureau shall be a body corporate by the name aforesaid, having perpetual succession and a common seal, with power, subject to the provisions of this Act, to acquire, hold and dispose of property, both movable and immovable, and to contract and shall by the said name sue and be sued. The Bureau shall consist of the following members, namely :- the Minister incharge of the Ministry or Department of the Central Government having administrative control of the Bureau who shall be ex-officio President of the Bureau; The Minister of State or a Deputy Minister, if any, in the Ministry or Department of the Central Government having administrative control of the Bureau who shall be ex-officio vice-President of the Bureau, and where there is no such Minister of State or Deputy Minister, such person as may be nominated by the Central Government to be the Vice-President of the Bureau; the Secretary to the Government of India in charge of the Ministry or Department of the Central Government having administrative control of the Bureau ex-officio; the Director-General of the Bureau ex-officio; such number of other persons, to represent the Government, industry, scientific and research institutions and other interests, as may be prescribed, to be appointed by the Central Government. The term of office of the members referred to in clause (e) of sub-section (3) and the manner of filling vacancies among, and the procedure to be followed in the discharge of their functions by, the members, shall be such as may be prescribed. The Bureau may associate with itself, in such manner and for such purposes as may be prescribed, any persons whose assistance or advice it may desire in complying with any of the provisions of this Act and a person so associated shall have the right to take part in the discussions of the Bureau relevant to the purposes for which he has been associated but shall not have the right to vote.
